Before being appointed as the Managing Attorney of our new Orange County Family Law Office, Lisa practiced family law in our Monterey Office for a total of three years. Lisa is an Orange County native who focuses her career on helping families navigate the complexities that relate to family law related issues. Lisa's compassion for families and her desire to ensure that her client's are treated justly are unmatched.

Lisa Thornton earned her law degree from Trinity Law School where she was awarded the American Jurisprudence Award in Criminal Procedure. She was admitted to the California State Bar in 2016, after spending a summer studying Human Rights Law at the Institute for International Human Rights in Strasbourg, France. Lisa is a member of the Orange and Monterey County Bar Associations and was President of Trinity‘s Federalist Society.

Ms. Thornton was a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate for foster children) and continues her advocacy for foster youth by sitting on the Board of the Eddie Nash Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower foster youth, through collaborative efforts with community partners and creative programming, with the essential skills they need to live independent, productive lives once they are emancipated.

Lisa is a strong advocate for her clients, and ever mindful of their best interests, including protecting their assets, and compassion for their children. "I have always had a desire to help people when they need it the most. That is the very mission of R.S.C. Law Group, Inc."

Prior to her work at RSC Law Group, Lisa thrived as a Manager of Programs and Development at the Urban Land Institute (ULI) where she managed multiple professional committees made up of land-use attorneys, architects, and land developers, to advance directives of the company's mission which is to provide leadership in the responsible use of land and creating and sustaining thriving communities worldwide.

Additionally, Lisa was a Director at United Way where she directed committees to envision a community where all individuals and families achieve their human potential through education, financial stability, and healthy lives.

Lisa has 20 years of experience in planning and logistics, and has volunteered in community activities involving preserving the family unit and community. "Clients are experiencing a loss and it is my job to assist them in letting go of the past and moving forward toward a positive future. My personal mission is to encourage and advocate for them through their divorce and custody issues and design strategies for them to come out positive on the other side."
